Once the installation of the Network License Service has been successfully completed, you should
verify that the service is running normally before configuring the communication settings and activating
a product license.
Check the Status of the Network License Service
From the Windows Start Menu, type "Services" into the search box to open the Windows Services dialog.
From this window, you may check the current status of the Network License Service.
Configuration Instructions
The installed executable for the Network License Service may be run with a number of command line switches in order
to configure the License Service and carry out online installation and activation of a product license.
Open a Windows Command Prompt ensuring that you have local administrator rights, and navigate to the folder in which the Network License Service was installed.
At the command prompt type the name of the executable file followed by one of the following
command line switches depending on how you wish to configure the service.

Setting the Communication Port
By default, the Network License Service for ProjectExplorer uses TCP Port 17113 to communicate with
license clients. If you wish to configure the license service to communicate on an alternative port,
run the executable file from the command line with the indicated command line switch and specify
the required port.
Ensure that the specified port is not being blocked by firewalls running on either
the license clients or the license server. Refer to instructions specific to your firewall software
for further guidance.
Installing a License
To install a new product license with one or more concurrent floating network licenses, run the
executable file with the indicated command line switch. The Activate License dialog will open. Refer
to the License Activation topic below for further instructions.
